Subjects
We teach a wide variety of subjects and courses here at Soaring Stars Education, and cater for a wide range of ages and levels. From Key Stages two and three, all the way up to GCSE and A-Level. From core subjects like Maths, Science and English to more specialist ones such as Verbal & Non-Verbal reasoning (for the 11+). In our Saturday School we teach Black History and Business & Entrepreneurialism and will soon be adding programming in Python to the mix.
Maths
Mathematics can sometimes be an intimidating and challenging subject, but we’ve made it our mission to make maths easy for those who don’t have a way with numbers, and help competent students who need that extra push to take their pass to a top grade. So whether you find algebra arduous, number mind-numbing, or probability perplexing, join our Maths class now to see how I can help.

English
There’s no denying that English is one of the most important subjects undertaken at school. Practically all jobs require a pass at GCSE as a minimum requirement, and to move on to sixth form or university even higher grades are sometimes required. I teach both English & English literature with AQA, Edexcel and OCR and cover all aspects including Shakespeare, poetry, essay writing, fiction, non-fiction, prose, creative writing and drama.

Science
Many students have aspirations and ambitions of becoming vets, doctors, engineers or architects once they leave school. Having a firm foundation and good grades in science is often required to move on to sixth form or university to further their studies and qualify to enter these professions. In our Science classes we teach Chemistry, Biology and Physics at all levels and help students cultivate an interest in the subject, deepen their understanding of the world around them and perform exceptionally in their exams.

Reasoning
Verbal & Non-Verbal reasoning is not covered at schools, however your child will often need to be proficient in order to pass the fiercely competitive entrance exams and the 11+, where often less than 5% of the initial applicants will go on to secure places. My students have gone on to secure places at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country such as Tiffin, Sutton Grammar, Latimer, Trinity and Dulwich College. Programming
Since the introduction of the GCSE Computer Science course in 2014, it has gained a great deal of popularity both in and out of school. In our classes students will be focusing on the programming aspect of it, and we will be programming in a language called Python. It will be an introductory course (no prior experience needed) lasting one term and students will learn the rudiments of the language, and how to write simple programs and algorithms to solve different tasks. At the end of the course there will be a programming project where students will need to put all the skills they have learned into practice to code a more elegant program.

Black History
Our Black History course addresses the gaps in the UK school curriculum, which often overlooks key aspects of Black history. We’ve developed a comprehensive program that highlights Black British history, including the Black Tudors, the Windrush generation, the Notting Hill Carnival, and the UK Civil Rights movement. Students will explore pivotal events such as the New Cross Fire, the Bristol Bus Boycott, the Brixton Riots, and Black Pound Day, providing a deeper understanding of Black British heritage.
The course also covers ancient African civilizations like Ancient Ghana, Mali, and the Songhai Empire, alongside the significant contributions of Black individuals in science, technology, art, music, sociology, and politics. We’ll examine the lasting impacts of colonialism and neo-colonialism on the African diaspora, as well as explore African religions, including traditional beliefs, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and movements like Rastafari and Black Liberation Theology.
Additionally, we offer free and affordable black history educational resources in our store which support our mission to make Black history education more accessible and engaging. You can find them here.
